I have been hearing a lot about obedience lately. Seriously. Every where I turn, every verse I read, seems to correlate with obedience. The thing that struck me more than anything was when I heard that obedience is more important than sacrifice. When I thought about that, though, I realized that in all reality, the two go hand in hand. When you are being obedient to the Lord, you are most likely sacrificing something. It may be big or little, but something. So therefore, I can see where God would want our obedience over our sacrifice.
The next question that was presented was inevitably "are you being obedient to the Lord?" And, how so?
Ummmm, good question.
Y'all, I've asked myself a thousand times if I'm being obedient. Not in really any specific area, but just in general. Am I keeping my ear attentive to Him? Am I getting to know Him? Am I making my own plans without consulting Him? (See Isaiah 30) When I really thought about it, I really had to pray. My prayer was that the Lord would show me the areas of my life that I am being obstinate. It's hard, sometimes. I feel like sometimes I live in a cloud, or dream, and I just don't really know what to do with my life. But then other times I feel as though I've got my life figured out. Confused? I am. Sometimes his voice seems so distant, and others it sounds so near.
Am I being obedient? Where, Lord, do I need to be obedient to you RIGHT NOW?
I saw this quote and absolutely loved it. Of course, the theme was obedience. Coincidence? I think not.
"I will love God because He first loved me. I will obey God because I love God. But if I cannot accept God's love, I cannot love Him in return, and I cannot obey Him. Self-discipline will never make us feel righteous or clean; accepting God's love will. The ability to accept God's unconditional grace and ferocious love is all the fuel we need to obey Him in return..." - Blue Like Jazz
To obey Him is to love Him. First, we have to accept that love. Oh, how hard that is sometimes and how undeserving we are of that love. But, I have to accept it to obey Him. And I long to do that.
This may be mumble jumble to some of you but, it's been my main thought process for the past week. How can I, right now, obey YOU, Lord?

Great post and definitely something I need to ask myself daily. It is easy to get caught up in life and forget to check in with God about well...everything. I am having to reteach myself to do that b/c at your age I was so self focused and got away from being God focused. I am thankful for God's patience and grace.
Bless you Lindsee Lou - hehe

I had an issue of obedience come up tonight and it was over driving a different path to work because the other way brought up some memories that did not need to be stirred. The Lord whispered from the proverbs...Jenny get wisdom though it costs all that you have. It was inconvenient and made me car sick to take the other route but I did not need to feed the thoughts that the other way would mean. isnt that stupid of me? But I have to make those small steps to obey or I wont obey at all...you know.
yes, I am learning alot about obedience lately too!!
